How to choose the right rug size
The right size is the single biggest factor in how a rug feels in a room. As a rule, a rug should be large enough that the front legs of your main furniture sit on it, leaving roughly 8–18 inches of floor visible around the edges. When in doubt, size up — a rug that's too small makes a room feel disconnected.

Almost every Posh Rug can be made to your exact dimensions. If your space falls between standard sizes, request a custom size and we'll cut and finish it to fit.
Placement & layout
- Living room: anchor the front legs of the sofa and accent chairs on the rug to tie the seating area together.
- Dining room: choose a rug large enough that chairs stay on it even when pulled out — about 24 inches of rug beyond the table on every side.
- Bedroom: run the rug under the lower two-thirds of the bed, or frame it with a runner on each side.
- Layering: a cowhide or sheepskin layered over a larger jute or sisal flat-weave is one of the most popular looks — it adds warmth and shape.
- Always use a rug pad to protect floors, reduce slipping, and add cushioning underfoot.
Sisal & natural-fiber rugs
Sisal is a 100% natural plant fiber, woven tightly into one of the most hard-wearing rug materials there is — ideal for high-traffic rooms. Each Posh Rug sisal is finished by hand with your choice of cotton, canvas, or faux-leather border, then woven and bound in the USA.
Care: vacuum regularly with suction only (no beater bar), and blot spills promptly with a dry cloth rather than rubbing. Keep natural fiber out of consistently damp areas. Borders are available in narrow, wide, and extra-wide widths; corners are lapped on narrow borders and mitered on wider ones, and a matching serged edge is available for a clean, borderless look.
Cowhide & patchwork rugs
Cowhide patchwork rugs are made from genuine hair-on hide, cut into precise geometric pieces and hand-stitched into a single bold, rectangular design with a cotton-canvas backing. Our natural cowhide pieces keep the irregular single-hide silhouette, and include genuine hides alongside soft, washable cowhide-print and faux styles.
Care: vacuum in the direction of the hair with suction only, and spot-clean with a damp cloth and mild soap — blot, never soak. Keep genuine hide dry and out of prolonged direct sunlight; rotate every 3–6 months for even wear. Many print and faux styles are machine-washable — always check the individual product page.
Sheepskin rugs
Genuine sheepskin has dense, ultra-soft natural wool and a suede backing for grip. It's naturally insulating and hypoallergenic — lovely draped over a chair, beside the bed, or softening a nursery.
Care: shake out regularly and vacuum on low with suction only. Spot-clean with cool water and a wool-safe detergent, then air-dry away from heat. Brush gently with a wool comb to restore loft. Never tumble-dry or use hot water, and keep sheepskin out of high-traffic and damp areas.

Yes — free freight delivery on every order within the continental US, with no white-glove surcharge.
What is your return policy?
Custom-cut Sisal rugs are made to your exact size and are final sale. Every other order can be returned within 30 days of delivery in unused condition. If anything arrives damaged or defective, we'll always make it right.
